A very interesting museum. This is Bloemfontein's oldest building and has a really sizeable collection of pioneer era wagons. This is the place where the Free State Republic was declared just to give an idea of the historical significance.
The museum is free but please donate if you can.

Went today. Was closed due to Covid Regulations. All the other museums under the National Museum are also closed, such as Oliewenhuis etc. Also went there and it was closed. They said check back in 14 days. Orchid House was also closed. Seems Mangaung has closed all museums they manage.

Sometimes you travel past these historical buildings everyday without notice. So glad we finally visited the First Raadsaal and the Wagon Museum guided by the enthusiastic Pulane. Thank you Pulane! You are so insightful and passionate about our history!

It's a real privilege getting a guided tour from a curator who is passionate about her subject.
The kids will love all the wagons, but might find the hall a bit boring.
