Fantastic location within East London, easily accessible from the city busses, and great beach access. The staff were lively, knowledgeable, and just great to hang with. Loved my time there, felt like home.

Great location on the sea!
Cozy, rustic, backpacker accommodation.
Sadly some socially undesirable people in the public area outside sugarshack. Litter everywhere on the beach. You must be vigilant.
Also buccaneers next door plays music very loud until late. Not my cup of tea unfortunately.
Ironically, the location in the bay is perfect, really beautiful, but it also is not, due to the urban decay surrounding sugarshack. A sad reality for many SA cities.
Very friendly host Jacques, and the accommodation decent enough.
Double room we hired could do with an extra blanket as it's winter.
Great place to stay but best to have a vehicle available while staying in East London, or pay plenty to Uber.
Walking around town and beachfront to be avoided.

Booked two rooms for my employees on a short business trip to East London. Rooms/facility’s not as advertised on website. Staff was friendly, thanks for accommodating my guys, but I would suggest a good cleanup. I can only guess it’s because of lockdown . Stay stong through the struggle!

Didn’t experience the vibe that others were describing. Kitchen seems a little run down. In my dorm room the upper bunk bed had almost no space to the ceiling, so you can’t even sit upright. The next door club was playing music loud enough for my bed to vibrate and made sleeping impossible until it stopped at 2:30am

Location is good but very doggy, Couldn't find a breakfast place on the beachfront for about 1,5km. Only a few hotels down the road and a local Spar store.Buildings are not look after up the road the beachfront houses are deteriorate and and it seems there is lots of Nigerians doing the drugs to the Locals.
