Lovely decor. Our waiter, Alex, was super! Food was delicious. Calamari tubes were a bit tough, but the hake was delicious. Sushi was good. Prices reasonable.

We went for lunch with a friend after running errands at the mall. The service wasn't great. We waited over 45 min for our orders yet people who came after us in the nearby tables were receiving their meals. I ordered sushi and my friend ordered fish u0026 prawns, I don't know if if these light meals really take that long at this specific John Dory's or our orders had been forgotten. It even took long to get our Mocktail jar to begin with. The people next to us also had ordered it but theirs arrived probably 10 minutes before ours and yet our order was taken first. We weren't told if there was a kitchen in the delay or if an error had been made. When we asked our waiter whats with the long wait he mumbled something about "these people" and we didn't know if he was referring to the kitchen staff or who? We received no apology for the long wait. And to top it off the soy sauce bottles were filthy! We asked him to please wipe them and he returned them in the same condition pretty much. It wasn't a nice experience at all.

We had an awesome meal here. Good quality food. The waitress Miss P (Puseleto I think) gave us excellent service and made our very first visit to John Dory's one to be remembered and repeated, very soon.
I don't add photos because they do not do the food justice.

Food not good enough for a cat :(!!!

I went to John Dory's last week with my mom for dinner. I ordered sushi; she ordered hake and chips.

While her meal looked presentably delicious, the fish tasted terrible :(. It had clearly been defrosted and badly cooked as the taste and texture were watery. They merely caked it with garlic butter and cheese for flavour but the flavour was lacking on the inside. She ended up only eating the chips.

The waiter asked if she enjoyed the meal and she confessed to not really having enjoyed it but he was friendly and she decided not to make a big deal of it and take the fish takeaway home for the cat. Our cat got sick and was throwing up for 2 days.

I had a similar issue with the sushi. Again, it looked greatly presented but the shrimps tasted terrible like they were frozen and just defrosted in the sink (they had a watery metallic taste). I had to spit them out :( the crab California rolls were okay but the rest was coated with terrible sauces which made the meal unpleasant to eat.

Felt like a total waste of money. Likely to never return.

The Hake Thermidor was bland and mushy, the prawns was tasteless and obviously microwaved. It honestly tasted like a wet dishcloth.The Calamari was tough and bland. The garlic sauce was tasteless and hardly any garlic. The Tartar sauce was good, and so was the side salad. The only highlight was the jalapeño poppers.
The meal was a bit pricey and not value at all.

Went to John Dorys later one Friday afternoon. Only about 4 tables had customers. Our waiter took our drinks order which we had to repeat about 6 times. On receiving our drinks he dropped the tray and spilt all the drinks. On speaking to him, we could smell that he had been drinking heavily. Will not return in a hurry.

21.07.2019 Decided to give JD another try, not sure if this is the same branch that was previously by the Galleria side which wasnt too great. However this branch was much better. We weren't too hungry so just ordered starters.
•The Scampi Prawns (Headless Panko-crumbed JD's prawn on a bed of rocket. Served with smoked and Sriracha mayo) the smoked Mayo was NOT good btw.
•Cu0026C bombs (Sriracha crab and cream cheese bombs crumbed with tempura crumbs and deep-fried. Topped with smoked mayo and caviar)
•Hake Nuggets (Hake fillet fried in seasoned flour, drizzled with sweet chili sauce and sprinkled with toasted sesame seeds)
•Prawn Avalanche Sushi - Californian Roll with prawn filling, topped with half a tempura-rolled prawn and spicy mayo sauce
•Prawn Volcano - Prawn California rolls, topped with Sriracha crab salad, a Sriracha prawn and coriander. Drizzled with Sriracha mayo

All were delicious and perfectly cooked. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal, they have restored my faith in their brand, and they have some interesting items and combos on the menu as well as specials.
