What a beautiful, comfortable hotel. It feels as though you are in a castle. There's attention to detail in the design and the hotel even smells amazing. Centrally situated to all the great things located along the Midland's Meander. The rooms are a pretty good size too and very neat. We stayed in room 210. What we didn't enjoy there was the noisy air conditioner and the toilet that didn't flush well. The bed and the pillows weren't great either. The most unpleasant part of our stay was dinning at the Ellington's Restaurant u0026 Café. Although the food was really good, the service was poor. The wait for food is long. The staff do not know anything about the food or drinks offered and are always confused. We had the breakfast buffet just yesterday, and when we went to dish out our mains, whatever food and drink we had laid on the table was taken away. Did not appreciate that.

This Tudor style hotel is so stylish. I love the decor, location. It's truly stunning. Whilst we did not stay at this particular hotel whilst in the Midlands, we dined at the restaurant and the food was great. We'll be back. ????

Stayed in room 421 and it was noisy due to aircons outside the window. There were notices saying the hotel rooms are undergoing a revamp so perhaps this will be addressed during the process. Service was really good, food was delicious and loved the Hilton cocktail!

We stopped in for coffee ☕️ on our way back to the Drakensburg after a short time away in Richmond.

We were greeted by very friendly staff. My parents told Xavier, one of the supervising staff members, about how they had their wedding reception at the hotel in 1971 and had got married at St Saviours Church (a photograph of which was on the wall behind us). He was enthralled by their stories about Pietermaritzburg and insisted that the coffee be “on the house” to commemorate their connection to the hotel. What a surprise and very kind gesture! Thank you for making our quick stop-over memorable and so pleasant, Xavier.

There have been many changes to the hotel over the years and the Hilton Hotel still maintains its class and good service.
This is a truly unique and beautiful hotel even after all these years!

Our room was very comfortable and spacious. Room service was convenient. The barista makes a good cappuccino. Hotel is centrally located for quick access to the Midlands.

My stay was comfortable until they started a new "government menu" today for meals. Usually you order food on the a la carte menu with a limit as per their agreement with your department but as from today as a government official they force what to eat on you. If booked as a corporate or "government" official, your R240 dinner limit has now lost its value compared to a R240 paid by someone paying privately. The level of discrimination!

Upgrades very beautiful in the rooms. Bed and pillows so comfortable. Overall Service in the restaurant and bar appalling and frustrating! Staff training not 4star at all! WiFi drops easily and weak. Always issues with the air conditioning ????
