It's Friday, also known as Braaiday!
Definitely a great change of pace compared to all the other club-vibe restaurants in the area. The Braai Room is a bit more secluded with a good ol' calm and romantic vibe. The Braai Room is part of Country Meat, it is their farm, their meat, their pleasure. So you know the meat is of the best quality and that they know exactly how to handle it.
We just loved the food. Before our starter, we got a quick, yet thorough tour with the floor manager, Lizzy, and boy oh boy she knows her stuff. You can really see that she takes lots of pride in her work. So, our Beef Trinchado arrived, it is the first time we had Trinchado *blushing*, and it was delicious, especially with the ciabatta to soak up all the tasty juices. It is a grill house so meat was on the menu. We ordered the spare ribs, 350g fillet, Biltong Potato Salad and some Beer Battered Onion Rings. Oh yes, we were doing some serious carbo loading, and also yes, it was magnificent. Just a bit strange was the potato salad which was so cold that some of the potatoes were a bit icy.
Service had us wondering a lot. Our waitress really struggled. She didn't know the menu. She didn't know the restaurant, like didn't even know where the restrooms were. And she took long and didn't really clean the table. BUT, everyone else was fantastic. The floor manager, the barman, and another waiter all were very friendly and quite knowledgeable about The Braai Room, its menu, and its origins.
It is really nice and cozy inside the restaurant. At the braai area it gets a bit smokey, but at the top area next to the butchery it is very pleasant with warm lighting and really nice wooden decor. Felt very inviting and comfortable.
Disclosure: Thank you S-Elle PR for sponsoring the evening.
