First visit to the new and improved facility. Wow. Everything has been upgraded and improved. Only issue I have is the music. Sunday mornings should be nice and tranquil but for some reason the music was hardcore rock which basically killed any ambiance. Some of the food stands were great but many were a little below average. Not sure when we will be back.

Root 44 was a great experience. There are so many options to choose from from the various food stalls, you'll be encouraged to go back and try them all.
It's also a really cool set up with the stalls and bars inside, with seating on the covered veranda with some amazing views of the surrounding scenery. You can even venture out into the grounds and find an awesome picnic spot in the gardens. The architecture is something to marvel at as well with very different facades of the entrance, to being in the grounds.
Overall a social, vibrant and exciting experience with an opportunity to explore various cultural foods and even pair with some good wine. If you like food markets and nature, this is the place.

We've visited Root 44 when it was still the old weekend fun place. I have to say the upgrade is amazing. The variety of different cuisine is just so good you can't decide which to choose. We'll definitely have to come back to try it all. Well done Root44

Had the best experience here! It's a foodies heaven. I've never seen that many different cuisines under one roof. I absolutely loved the different things I got to try, I had a bit of a feast but absolutely worth it! Definitely go there when you're hungry and be willing to try new things. My boyfriend did say they used to have other stalls aside from food there before but when we went it was purely a food based market.

WOW. All I can say, is you MUST make time to go there. Never seen so many food stall options under one roof. And many dessert options, including divine fudge kiosks. There's a few bars too. Pricing is a tad higher than normal, but the experience is amazing. Sit in or take away. All the seating is open to any of the food places, so no reservations. The end (right at the back) of the hall was quite empty, lots of open tables, and also a bit quieter. Inside is very loud and busy. There are tables in front of the lawn but they fill up real quick. Apparently the food places are only open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in summer and Saturdays and Sundays in winter. This is what I was told, so check their website for updates .

One of the best food market in Cape Town. Unfortunately the place gets too full, you have to stand on long lines to get service. It is a little bit worth it, because food is great. They have beautiful space outside for picnics. I would give them 5 stars but I feel even though the place is kids friendly they do not have enough play area for kids. They could include swings etc to keep kids busy. They have enough space for that without taking into the picnic area.

The impressive upgraded Route 44 has little resemblance to the old set up apart from some food stalls. I appreciate that all areas are well covered with seating both inside u0026 out. The manicured garden areas allow for kids to wonder freely.
There are currently majority food stalls u0026 a few art ones but judging from the build, there's a level above that will be opened soon u0026 stalls lining the outside. This should be communicated as we visited for craft items. With ample parking capacity, consideration is needed on the walkways between stalls, it's very tight u0026 when busy becomes quite chaotic.
