When I saw that I had a Chinese takeaway spot close to me while visiting Bloem, I immediately jumped in the car and drove to sample its delights.
Unfortunately, I expected more in terms of flavour and quality. The stir fried dumplings had a fishy aroma even though they were pork, which I assume is because of what was cooked in the same pan earlier, or from the burnt spots. Charred is one thing, burnt is another.
The chicken dish was passable, but lacked any prominent flavour. I asked and paid for extra chilli, but the dish lacked spice of any kind. Just an underwhelming soy flavour.
Overall, I felt full, but cheated. Maybe I caught them on a bad day, but this definitely was not what I expected. I know that this is not 5-star dining, but even a takeway should meet some expectations.
