We had a truly memorable experience at Cause and Effect. Justin was fantastic and really made it wonderful. My lower rating is because we bought a Hyperli voucher with a certain food menu only to get there and get a salad, game and chocolate cake instead of mussel, tuna taco and sorbet. We got the voucher specifically for the menu with the pairing. The cocktails were fantastic but I don't eat game and was only told its game AFTER I had ate it. I thought it was beef. I also don't generally go for chocolate desserts especially in this heat. Overall it was absolutely amazing but one can't change a menu people paid for and also not check if there's certain things they may not eat or be allergic to if it is changed. It was really wonderful though and it wouldn't stop us from coming back. Justin was a 10/10 star and we would highly recommend him for a food and cocktail pairing.

Cause and Effect has such a light and classic Cape Town vibe. The staff is friendly and makes you feel at home.

LOVED the mussels. They were delicious and spicy. I also really enjoyed the skinny fries. Very tasty and seasoned just right.

The cocktails did not disappoint. I had 4, amongst them was “The Rocket”. I loved the nitrogen smoke. It takes cocktails to the next level because they’re so aesthetically pleasing.

All-in-all it was a pleasant experience and I’m definitely coming back for more.

Shoutout to Dylan! He was our waiter and had such a warm energy.

The cocktails were very nice and I liked the Chicken sliders. I however was expecting better service but maybe the waitress wasn't that interested because we came with a Hyperli voucher. We were initially seated at the front entrance but it was too hot and asked to rather move to the back where the air conditioning could be felt more. It seems that might have made them forget about us every now and again. I asked for the menus because we were interested in trying more cocktails after the voucher items but the waitress took extremely long to come back, so we rather left to go somewhere else. We still gave about 27% tip, although I don't think it was deserved. Vouchers are nice to try out a new places but when the experience isn't great, who would want to go back. Would've like to try the 'cocktails experiences' but this particular experience put me a bit off. Will see in future.

Artsy nature orientated bar with some interesting fusion bespoke drinks. Although dainty there a quite a few different spots to choose from including a private bar with personal bartender that you could reserve for a group of people. Staff are on the ball and friendly, they also do not push sales and you can chill at the bar comfortably. The music is also very diverse.

If you’re wanting to try theatrical cocktails this is your place. Be warned they are pricey but beautiful to look at … rated 75th best bar in the world definitely a must to visit.

I did prefer the menu for food though and enjoyed our tapas very much. Found the cocktails slightly lacking in punch … excepting the fish bowl.. was delicious

Great vibe
Excellent service
Food was very good …
Love this place

Made a booking for 7pm (for 6 people) and when we a arrived, the hostess told us people were sitting at our table but assured us they were aware we had booked and that they would be asked to move. Eventually at 7:20 I asked what was happening. We were then taken to a small bar at the back and asked to sit at the counter... this was a bad start. When we said this wouldn't work, the hostess rolled her eyes and we managed to squeeze 6 of us at one of the 4 seater tables.

We were eventually moved to a larger table about 30 minutes later.

After that, everything was awesome. Cocktail designs and the taste was next level. (Had 4 each)

Staff were a bit rushed (waiters) but it's understandable for a pay day Saturday.

Very cool experience. Give it a go. Once was enough for us.
