Where to begin. . .this was without a doubt the worst hospitality experience I've ever had. To say it was shocking is an understatement.
In a nutshell - we booked a self-catering stay for 2 for my birthday weekend, using a Wikideals voucher that was gifted to us. When we arrived, we were given a room with no self-catering facilities. I had prepared for self-catering and packed meat and perishables. Realising we were given the wrong room, I called the housekeeper and notified her of the issue. She said I would have to speak to reservations the next day. I said no problem, but can I please store my food in a fridge so that it doesn't go bad - she assisted us with this.
The next day, a note with a reservations number was slid under my desk. I called the number and explained the problem. Later, the person on the phone came to speak to me and insisted that they had notified me via email that they only had a room available. I showed her all emails exchanged and there was NO mention of only a room being available. She said she will send me a WhatsApp message showing me this alleged email - it is 2 days later and I am still waiting. I am always for compromise and then asked if I can use the public braai facilities mentioned in their guestbook - she said no and did not give a reason, even after I told her that the guestbook says that this facility is available - it was just a "No". I asked if I could use the kitchen, she said no, it would be weird and other guests may want to do the same - basically an "I don't want to help you and I don't care about your problems" attitude.
My husband and I packed up and left, not bothering to stay the second night.
