An absolute classic family restaurant on the long street. Friendly staff, amazing community members that are welcoming to visitors in the area. We went there at night, walked there...a first if you are from Joburg and we were still safe. The food, have a wide range menu...I only ordered dessert cause it was late, the ice cream and waffle, the waffle was freshly baked and wonderful to have. Its different from Jozi experiences but awesome, so go there with an open mind.

Had a family and friends dinner here. We were 14 people in total . the service received was decent and the options of food was varied. The cool drinks are bottomless they add on the tables and jugs. The chicken is braai , however more than 1 of the pieces we had was burnt to char extent . They had sushi as well , that was nice . Very decent for buffet sushi , one could actually taste the prawn used. When it comes to the ribs and prawns there is a server who dishes it in your plate , you cannot take those two items as you please. Overall it was a decent experience .

It is worth mentioning they had no hot drinks at all , no tea , coffee , hot chocolate available , which is strange as it was a cold winters night we were there .

Nice selection of food but some were dried out being left too long under the burner ..
From starter soup to different salads and a selection of sushi and pastas.
Mutton curry , fragrant white rice , butter chicken, and two more curries I can't pronounce ....
Sticky Ribs u0026 finger licking chicken as well as prawns
Included are desserts , waffles and ice cream, malva pudding and hot custard.
Soft drinks on tap.
Whether you a couple or a group ,
The Village Buffet has something to eat for you.
They had a reception for a wedding party on the night too but they were done when we arrived , a couple of two celebrating my birthday .
Sitting is a maximum of 2hrs.
More than enough time for an enjoyable meal.

When we got to the place it seemed very dodgy and I was second guessing if we should go in, we went in and dished food.... MY WORD WAS I SURPRISED... The food was delicious. We simply could not get enough... Beef ribs, prawns, chicken curry, butter chicken, lamb curry, salads, veg... I would definitely recommend this place to anyone that is in the mood for a pleasant different experience. Great job!!!

It seems that if a large group comes in they put out just enough food to mollify the group and after that the platters (especially the proteins) remains empty. With the curries you can enter the "find the meat and win a car competition" and there are very little vegetables if you are not into starches.
I ate here two months ago and it was reasonable but will not go back again.
