An amazingly beautiful setting for any occasion.
It’s difficult to comprehend how much time, effort and money goes into crafting this tranquility in nature.
For children the gardens are a magical place of giant trees that provide homes to squirrels, butterflies, fairies and gnomes who live amongst the gnarled 300-year-old roots.
The wine tasting experiences are an adventure. That said I’m no wine connoisseur, so I won’t spout forth about how fruitiness compliments the hints of tannin from the 100-year-old oak barrels. I will say that there are a few wines you are going to love.
Vergelegen is a step into freedom, nature and wonderful meals.
My only grumble comes from the one or two misguided souls who take more pleasure drawing attention to themselves by whining out loud about things their little minds aren’t really able to comprehend.
Of course it gets busy at peak times – so, if crowds aren’t your thing choose times in-between holidays and the festive season.
Yes, there’s always room for a little improvement, but have a little consideration for the staff who answer to your beck and call – they get it right almost 100% of the time.
And about that nominal gate fee – the gardens, the meals, the hospitality and the wines are all better for it.
