Chaka's Rock Chalets

We were last here about 7 years ago. The place is a shadow of its former self. The chalets and facilities are usable but in an obvious state of disrepair. We stayed in a 2 bedroom chalet that sleeps 6. The kitchen is well appointed. The bathroom has been upgraded to have a shower and no bath. The TV in the main bedroom had been removed leaving behind its bracket and cords. Everything looked well used. It's a 3 out of 5 for cleanliness although the units are cleaned daily in the afternoon. Linen smelled damp. Towels are changed weekly. The property is located on a slope so facilities are difficult to get to including the parking. The pool is relatively well maintained but the stairs to get there are perilous. I had a moment of suspended horror as my 4 year slipped on the top step of the steep flight of stairs leading down to it. The jungle gym is barely usable. Trampoline is cordoned off. There is a spa that I did not try. There are swing benches scattered throughout the property that offer lovely views of the ocean. Staff are friendly. It is a short drive to ballito which was the saving grace for our stay. We were told that it's a 10 minute walk to the beach but opted to drive there All in all, not a complete disaster but not a place I would come to again.

Really decent accommodation. 6 sleeper was perfect for our 5 member family. S jäh court was an u expected bonus and we forgot our binoculars, so the lookout with the telescope was a welcomed facility for us for dolphin watching. All round a great family vacation accommodation. Quirky fun fact is that there velvet monkeys you will encounter at least once a day, just don’t feed them otherwise they’ll never leave you alone!

Very nice experience, a lovely place and lovely apartment. They have everything you need, nice and clean rooms, nice bathroom and well equipped kitchen.
Every apartment has the Bbq , a large one for 15 people and even more.
The parking lot is very useful!

We stayed over at Chaka's Rock Chalets this weekend and what a disappointment. The room was not ready although we only booked in at 17h00. The bed was not made and there were no towels. The curtains has mould on and the ceiling fans is so dirty. They had a private function on the Saturday, the guest of the function parked on paid guest parkings and they made noise until late although the rules for paid guest is no music. Even with making our booking the administration was not on standard, they take long to answer you over email and when you try phoning them they don't answer the phones. Very disappointing!

Chalet was perfectly clean. The bathroom is a problem. There is no door on the shower. This causes wet floors and a mess. The toilet is absolutly designed for women. No man can use it without making a mess. The worst design ever!

Great base for holidays. Chalets could be better and updated. Pool had lots of dead insect's floating about!!! So we didn't swim. Lots of wildlife in the immediate area.

I love Chaka's Rock Chalets but this time around, our stay was not pleasant. The standard of the apartments is deteriorating. I wish management could consider doing proper refurbishment. My biggest concern was the state towels, curboards and electric appliences. I love this place so much that I dont wish to come to a decision of not making it a destination of choice.
