Undoubtedly one of the most iconic takeout restaurants in Durban. They have been around for more than 50 years and their food is just as tasty. I have personally eaten their veg bunny many times over the past 40 years and they never disappoint. Quick service with tasty food and friendly service. Even their premises is like a blast from the past. If you ever visit Durban CBD make a stop at Patel's, order a takeaway and drive to the Harbour or botanical gardens to enjoy your meal with excellent views. NB. They are a vegetarian take away. No meat dishes. Ps. Get there early they sell out of food just after lunch.

If you are in Durban, and if you are not checking into Patel Vegetarian Refreshment for Bunny Chows, snacks and sweet meats, then it is an absolute crime! The most authentic and homely taste of Bunny Chow you get here

After hearing so much of this place by so many people, I finally tried the mixed veg bunny.

5 stars is not enough for this rating. It deserves a 10 star.

Absolutely delicious. The best mix veg bunny I had thus far. It was next level.

Try it and experience it for yourself.

Out of the early 80's looking venue, with basic plastic chairs and tables.
Simplist of food, with a taste that has me captured for the last 40 years.
Did I mention the ridiculously low price for an awesome vegetarian meal.

While its not a 5 star restaurant by appearance wise , the food and people are 5 star I have been to fine dining places from The Chefs Table , Beluga or Oyster Box , But this little vegetarian restaurant with its humble Moon Dhall Bunny , Sugar Beans Bunny , Mixed Veg or Gram Dhall Bunny will have you salivating for more , now this place has been around since 1911, Ask for Amesh they will take care of you.

It was great visiting Patels again after many years. Though the area might have changed, the food certainly has not. The dhall bunny is da best ever. Highly recommended. If in Grey Street, give this place a visit

The old school vibe brings back many great memories of my dad and I visiting Patels, the bunnies are still that authentic flavor and is just wholesome. My go to a mixed bunny a cup of tea sit down and some potato bhajia take away, they never disappoint.
