Awesome spot for a hike or a trail run in the Durban North area. Great scenery and lush coastal Dune forest.

Recently moved back from Johannesburg and is revisiting places of interest in Durban. I am quite disappointed considering knowing how much people are charged in rates and taxes here. The spot is very run down and you don’t feel safe when you walk in the bush. Come on municipal! Majority of Joburg parks are so much more well looked after than these bushes! I do not recommend this place and don’t go alone.

Beautiful, dense forest. Incredible variety of plant and animal life. Mostly birds and insects, although I did spot a mongoose or two (which means snakes too!) Great for birders and bird photographers

Approximately 3-5km undemanding hike covered mostly by tree canopies. Tranquil sounds and pleasant smells almost makes one forget about the bustling surroundings, making this trail an ideal escape for the inner city dweller. Unsupervised limited parking outside, however public facilities are available along with a small picnic area.

Virginia bush nature reserve is small enough to easily walk around, with very clear paths, but big enough to escape the sounds of the city. On some paths you might hear the odd car or suburban noise (dogs from the neighbouring properties mostly). Great bird life. You see the odd duiker too. I spent around two hours in the reserve today and I think I only saw one other person there.

It’s really run down… total shame and it was such a nice place.

There seems to be a raw sewage leak close to the entrance

Enjoyed my time here. It was a bit quiet at that time of the morning,so advisable to go as a group when going. It's not clearly marked so you just walk and follow the trail.
