2 DAVID MILLAR - a month ago
This was my third stay at the guest house. It really is beautiful and serves my needs for an out-of-town stay when on business in George. Last time I overlooked the TV which did not work and I was left trying to assist a staff member - without success. This time I brought two of my staff with me. My female staff member stayed in the house and said she loved it (it was warm, there was a wall heating panel and her room was beautiful - as the rooms are). My male staff member and I were put into the outside bedrooms (also beautiful). Unfortunately, none of us had heating in our rooms - in the middle of winter! Although I had an extra blanket, my staff member had neither a heater nor a blanket in his room. I had a heater that did not work (a small plug in heater) except to blow cold air out (not sure it was a heater but Rita said it was). Not even the air cons worked in our rooms so they could not be used to heat up the rooms. To say that we were both cold is an under-statement. It made the experience an unpleasant one this time. My one window did not have a blind over it like other rooms and the curtain was not a block out. One could see through into the room at night when the light was on - no privacy. The blind over the door is not in a full state or repair either and the light streamed in from outside.
The rooms are beautiful but to say that they were freezing is an under-statement.
I must say that Rita was again her charming self, breakfast was superb as always. But when one comes to a guest house (4 star) one expects to have a pleasant experience in one's room in the cold of winter. This kind of attention to detail needs to be addressed.
I will return (Rita indicated that she will speak to the owners). I will need all of the rooms next year for a conference (accommodation). In winter again.
