So we tried Porta Bella for the first time with friends from JHB. Having said that, the evening didn't go without any hiccups and incidents. The staff made up for it without any complaints, just by being proactive in numerous ways, and we did not leave with out an apology. Kudos to staff u0026 chef!
The pizza bases are light and very flavourable u0026 best in town. We are really appreciative that we do not have to travel too far to get good pizza. Also a fantastic wine list. Love the atmosphere and ambiance. Keep up the good work guys!

Manager and waiter were superb. I enjoyed my steak but I'd choose something else next time. There was a group of noisy men that made the evening a challenge. Not the restaurants fault. Give them a try.

Unsure where to eat in George we took the advice in our BnB and booked Portobello. Easy to find, adequate parking and a great vibe. Service from the manager to the staff excellent even if being quizzed on dish details by my partner. Main classic Italian dishes I.e. Penne arrabiatta and Melenzane followed by Gelato and a Cannolie. Excellent typically Italian food. Oh also a portion of Olives in oil and some divine herbs with focaccia. A great vibe all round.

Last night was our second visit and it won't be our last. I had the Prosciutto e Funghi pizza. Their pizza bases are thin (as they should be) and gorgeously soft. It was excellent. My wife had the Roast Kabeljou which she declares to be awesome - the little sautéed new potatoes were gorgeous. Top part of the meal though was the unexpectedly different and wonderful Rosemary Focaccia bread with aubergine caponata. Yum. A little pricey but the quality is there!

Food was good but portions are small compared to other Italian restaurant in George .

Service was excellent and the atmosphere also realy good.
