I was highly impressed with the level of service we received on Friday night 23 September 2022 at Mercantile casualty dept from the receptionist, the nurses and the doctor who dealt with my sonn. They were all friendly and helpfull. Nurse Philander really stood out with the passionate way she performed her duties. Sister Andy was also helpful. All of them were outstanding i will give them full marks for service delivery and pasient management. The receptionist was very sweet and kind and rushed to get us assistance from Nurse Philander who was proactive pleasant lively and making us feel at ease. The doctor was also friendly and assisted us quickly

I was admitted as an emergency admission due to lung embolism. I also have cancer. Had to sit at admissions while not being able to breath properly then the lady at admissions did not seem to know how to handle my files given to me by Cancercare. Always answering her cell and handing my file over to someone else without an explanation. Was eventually handed my file and told to go to ward 4B. No offer of a wheelchair or even a nursebto accompany me.My oncologist requested a private room due to my low immunity. I was placed in the Willow ward with another lady. The 2 students that came to me shame they tried but did not have a clue. The sister was no where to be seen and when she came she also was not really interested in the files supplied by Cancercare. After some time I was placed on oxygen and was told my room was still being cleaned and they are waiting for the pharmacy for meds. Eventually after phoning Cancercare I received meds after 19h00. Pathetic. After that I was moved to a private ward. The staff was non-existent on night shift.
I have never in my life experienced such poor service in a Life hospital. I do not wish to ever go there again. I should have been sent to a state hospital where a person expect such service.
On the morning that I was discharged I never received breakfast.
Shame on the staff and Management of Life Mercantile.

Jan 2022.

An absolute disgrace that a patient can be there in that Ward A for more than a week and not been washed or teeth brushed.

Who is the Matron of that hospital is he she trained???

Disgrace to even complain about basics

Sad excuse for nursing profession
