The dream for every book lover. I myself am a big history fan and immediately felt myself at home here. Not only do they have a lot of books on the first and second world war, they also have a lot of books on south African history and especially on the anglo-boer war. The owner also knows a lot about southbafrican history and talked with me about alot of its history, also mentioning multiple books. Lovely place!

I could spend hours and hours in Hemmingway's Bookshop in Hermanus.. One enters a magical, fascinating world. We enjoyed our time there tremendously.

You need time in this treasure trove. They have a wide variety of books covering English, Afrikaans, Dutch, French and German. The Africana collection is outstanding and all the books that matter are there. They have grouped the books in popular categories and you may be forgiven to think that you are in a library. It is a must look, see and experience for everyone with a love of books. Original editions of many books are to be found from classic children's to modern self-help books. Comfortable chairs are scattered everywhere for your reading comfort.

A book lover's dream! Winding passages of shelves bursting with the most amazing books, an extensive South African section, comfortable arm chairs to rest on, and helpful shop keepers. A Hermanus gem.

A neatly tucked-away treasure. The store has a fascinating inventory, ranging from signed copies of classic literature to second-hand novels. The staff are amiable and passionate about their work, which makes the experience more enjoyable. Highly recommend.

Brilliantly curated. Found a book I had hunted for a long time and at n bargain of a price..It was an 1870’s copy, which makes it even more special…I could spend weeks in here… a must see in Hermanus.
