Yesterday my wife was craving some seafood, so we decided to go to Southgate and we got to Ocean Basket and ordered a platter for two and after waiting for at least 20 minutes we came back and the meal was ready but ridiculously small, we spent R400 on platter that was suppose to serve at least two of us but it was so small it felt like a starter not that I eat too much but I felt ripped off I even ask the waiter if that's really my order. From that day on I vow never to go any Ocean Basket and would discourage anyone else to do that.

Ordered platter for 2. Prawns weren't cleaned properly. Inadequate seasoning on the main star of the show, The actual 'fish'. Requested prep instructions are never followed (asked for grilled calamari, got fried). Rice was not fresh. Every time I think to give the benefit of the doubt and order again from here, I have been disappointed. No inspiration in meal preparation. Not worth the amount you pay for it. Honestly.

I was there last evening around 17h45, I placed my order immediately after I was given a table. My meal was served at exactly 18h25, I was not impressed with the service at all that includes the waitress,who had an attitude towards me. I couldn’t get her name because she was not wearing a name tag, but I can describe her. She speaks Xhosa, light in complexion,with blond braids. Management I appeal to you do something with her, she’s got a stinky attitude.

The tube calamari were hard and dry. The squid heads were mushy and tasteless. The chips were dry, fish was stale. We spoke to the manager, he then persisted by saying that the food is not stale. Really poor service. I was a regular client. Not anymore

For me it was one of the best seafood I get all my life , very tasty and spcial . Not cheep but it's deserve the money you will pay if you love seafood .

Was there roughly 3 weeks ago, food was fresh and service was amazing. One thing though, the waiter was serving too many people at once and lost contact with us however was very friendly. Was disappointed that they don't sell alcohol. I love my prawns with a glass of beer. Keep up the excellent work.

We thoroughly enjoyed our fish and calamari combo, cooked to perfection. Our business meeting took longer than usual but the owner patiently waited for us to finish up without putting any pressure on us to leave even though it was past closing time. Thank you for your kind hospitality, great service and for the fantastic meal. Will certainly be back when I'm back in Johannesburg.
