I order the ostrich fillets on a potato rosti. After I explain to the waiter about my celiac challenge the chef create a delicious plate in separate bowls. Wonderful to have people that understands and go the extra mile and beyond to make one feel at home.

The garden is obviously a point of pride for the establishment. Food is delicious but some of the menu items are on the small side and the food is too hot when served. Our waiter was pleasant and efficient. Will probably return.

The atmosphere is lovely, the food is delicious and the milkshakes are amazing! Highly recommend for breakfast or lunch. The best chips in the Western Cape!

We went out in search of a light meal and good cup of coffee and found this lovely secluded spot. The love and attention put into the meals and hospitality by the baker and her staff was tangible, and the passion for baking shone through in the delicious melt-in-your-mouth baked cheesecake tartlet with blueberry and cherry compote, and the delicate, buttery cinnamon bun we enjoyed for dessert. The bakery / coffee shop is a relatively new addition to De Avond Rust, but deserves great support and is definitely well worth the visit for any discerning confectionery enthusiast. The breakfast Full Soutie) was great, along with home-baked bread and truly delicious sweet potato fries. We'll be back!

Gorgeous little gem, tranquil garden and phenomenal baked goodies. The food is also fantastic, made with a lot of love and good quality ingredients.
