Had a great stay here while traveling through South Africa. The service was great the staff were really friendly and helpful. The rooms were pretty good and clean. I had everything I could need for the night. Breakfast was pretty good and fresh. Good value for money staying here. If I'm going to be back in the area this would be where I would come to stay again. Definitely the best in the area.

Not too shabby. An overnight stay with young kids some time back. Booking in via telephone and email was easy and a pleasure. A cute rondavel next to the pool was good too. TV reception was a bit fuzzy at the time though.

Nice place and excellent service. I would like to come back with my partner for holiday as this trip is work. The room is big enough with a king bed and comfortable, clean sheets.

I have visited the facility many times. They tend to cluster guests together. The rooms are not sound proof, and that is why I requested a seperate prior to arriving during the online booking process. We were put next to a family with children after requesting and paying extra for a quiet room. The restaurant and the pub area was excellent, really very good and friendly staff. Good value, good atmosphere. Managment apologised for the placement, which I accepted. But please guys, if the facility is not fully booked, please space your clients to accomodate poor sound insolation.

This is a nice hotel, however their process during a rolling blackout is non -existent. Power was out when we checked in and would be out for at least an hour. We hung around in lobby bar for WiFi u0026 heat. Then in morning, power was out from 8 am until 10:30 am. We understand that the blackouts are not under the hotel’s control. However after researching and talking to locals, the blackouts are scheduled u0026 publicized. The Marriott should tell the paying customers when the blackouts are scheduled. The customer could then plan accordingly. In the morning, the receptionist said the generator was going for our building so we would have hot water. We walked backed to room and no hot water (I showed her pictures). I picked up phone to call front desk …. no power for phone. Ugh. We packed up. I went to check out and inquired about hot water and also asked for discount for a room that all I got was a bed to sleep in u0026 breakfast. She needed to ask someone. She stated a switch was not set to turn on hot water. What? The only function of the generator was for hot water. Why wasn’t this switch on? This should be on a process checklist as this is the only function of the generator in these rooms.
She then said they couldn’t discount the room, just a credit for the dinner we didn’t get nor did we know we were supposed to get the night before. Seriously? I haven’t yet received the discount or the points on my Bonvoy account. I have emailed management twice and NO response. Hmmmmmm? ????u200d♀️
If you have to stop in Oudtshoorn, skip this hotel until they get a better blackout procedure or reimburse their Bonvoy members better.

I have stayed here many times over the past decade or two and it always had a particular ambience with its rondawel shaped rooms and the country atmosphere. I have always enjoyed staying here. Although it is a hotel, one never get a hotel feeling, but more of a luxury guest house.

And that works for me. I stayed here again for two nights this week and on the first night enjoyed a delicious steak. I did notice that, for a hotel in the Karoo, famous for its sheep, no lamb chops were to be found on the menu. I enquired about this to the waitron, who by the way gave excellent service and advice, and he suggested I speak to the Concierge.

One thing led to another and last night I was presented with a plate of Karoo lamb chops that was out of this world. I had to keep wiping my lips and cheeks as I dug into this delicacy with the only way possible - my bare hands. What an enjoyable occasion.

Afterwards I finished my bottle of wine in the bar next to a cosy fire and let the experience just work its way through me.

All I can say is that I can recommend the staff far and wide!

My one regret is that I did not take a picture of the lambchops as it was served. I will forever regret that. I do post a pic of the steak of the previous evening, which was also excellent in its own right.

Really enjoyed our stay. It was so peaceful and the staff friendly. The room had exactly what we needed to crash after exploring the surrounding areas. Breakfast was amazing and fills you up so that you ready to tackle the day ahead. The only complaint I have is that the bathroom window even with the blind down is see through at night. So if you do use the loo just make sure you cover it so you dont expose yourself after nightfall.
