This review is long overdue.
Our original booking at the estate was for 4 nights - a relaxing bridging stay before returning to our home overseas. 4 days of rest, relaxation and exploring the beautiful surrounds turned into 12 days of rest, spoils, memories for life, inspiration and the most incredible hospitality at this family run estate.
I am South African. My husband American. We live and work on the Indian sub-continent. Work and family travel has afforded us tremendous travel opportunities, and we have yet to enjoy a stay as much as we have a De Leeuwenhof - for a number of reasons:
Hospitality. Hospitality. Hospitality.
We were always greeted with a warm, kind smile.
Daan and his family always made time to talk with us, guide us, make suggestions, and share life and community stories in the valley that they clearly love very much.
Our accommodation was clean and comfortable and made all the more special knowing that Daan and Stefan built much of the property extension themselves.
Breakfasts on the porch next to the pool were long, lazy, fresh and delicious.
The area is absolutely breathtakingly beautiful.
Best value for money.
10 out of 10.
Over the 12 days we came to know Daan, Anthea and Stefan as very warm, caring people who are actively involved in the community.
Daan leads the voluntary fire bridge.
Hosts and staff add a lot to the experience. We were so honoured to be made to feel like family over the festive season.
Expectations exceeded. Our stay was relaxing and genuine - the family is so kind and so trusting - and without being in your space, they are always available and eager to please. And to top it all, they put a wedding together for my sister and brother-in-law with 24 hours' notice.
Thank you Daan, Anthea and Stefan - Tim and I wish you, your loved ones and the staff, the very best for 2022 and beyond.
Warmest regards from the Indian sub-continent.
