My wife and I with our children visited Nederburg today. The food and wine was exquisite and tranquility surrounded us. Reagan is lovely and we will be back soon.

It's so wonderful to head out of Cape Town to a heritage vineyard that has given me so many years of drinking joy, hahah. Not only that, it also caters for family fun! An hour out of Town, but worth every minute, because once you arrive it all falls into place. The view is incredible, the food is yumcious and their is a family fun area for everyone to enjoy. They have set up a really cool jungle gym for the kids and cool hammock like, chair Hoops for those of us wanting to stretch out after a delicious meal. With a lovely breeze on our necks and an easy to order menu, I almost fell asleep, which is a good thing, trust me! They also make it easy for you to chose which wines with what dish and concidering it is the holidays, the less is more approach was embraced, Hehehe. For our starters, We ordered something I have never heard of, called a " Slaphakskeentjie Tart Tatin with Chevin Cream" - which BLEW ME AWAY and the "Smoked Smoor Snoek and Cauliflour Rice" - which tastes like home. For mains we hit the "Slow Braised Springbok Phylo Parcel" - which I unexpectedly enjoyed, as I usually don't enjoy game meat (but we like to share when we try new things and it was yum) and of course I just had to dive into an ocean of "Fried Squid Tenticals and Calamari" which was fragrant and unique with a warm helping of bulgar wheat to fill the belly. For dessert we kept is local n lekker with the Milk Tart and Rooibos Ice cream and then went international with the Chocolate fondant. Both hit the treat spot nicely. Of course you can NOT go to Nederburg without rounding up a few of their fine wines, so I left, hands full, with some delicious options to enjoy at home. Honestly, a great experience, with wonderful service and an enjoyable vibe. so remember to bring that rugby ball or cricket set you haven't used in a while to have some fun with the kids on the field to shake of the tummy tummies. Just a note though, There are thorns, so bring your takkies!

Terrible experience on Easter Day 2022. After making our booking for 13 people more than a month ago and management’s insistence that we eat from a set menu, we arrive only discover that the meal option which they insisted on, was not available.
Jerry and Ivhan’s management style was akin to “take it or leave it.” Their attitude was appalling and their solution was to appease us (inebriate us) with free wine - which we promptly turned away, as we were there for our Easter lunch. The food we were eventually served was charred beyond recognition. It felt like we were being served scraps from the kitchen. All meals were sent back uneaten. Jerry didn’t have the decency to return to our table after they had ruined 10 out of our 13 main courses.
It would go a long way to remember that you are dealing with actual people. Our party included 4 pensioners, one of which was my 87-year-old grandmother. After spending more than 3 hours at your establishment, we left disappointed, angry and hungry.
We would have been happy to get up and leave within our first 10 minutes of being there, but who would have accommodated a party of 13 for Easter lunch without a prior booking?
Our day was ruined. After planning this way in advance (as we live in different parts of the country) the only thing The Manor Restaurant at Nederburg Wine Estate excelled at was resorting to the “dop system” to appease us. Well done! You’ve earned yourself a zero star rating from a party of people who would have happily continued spending hard-earned money at your establishment.
