Never thought that there is a little tranquility in the midst of the concrete city of Pretoria. It is absolutely beautiful. We even took a friend in his wheelchair for the short walks. Enjoy a nice picnic after the walk. Definitely a place to be if you need some time in nature.

Great place to hike in PTA, birds and animals around. It is safe and pet friendly with a leash. One can go for a short walk around or hike up to the viewpoints, enjoy the view and make your way back down. The signage however needs to be replaced or updated. One can get lost because of this, although it is possible to get back on track.

Not enough parking so you end up waiting at the gate until someone leaves. Slow service at entrance. Routes not well specified. It is clean though. You are able to take your dog with. No place to drink coffee or eat breakfast. Beautiful piece of land in the middle of the city.

The nature reserve is ok and clean; if you’re looking for some outdoor time and be away from the city within the city, for only R17 for entry (Card only - no cash). I was amped for the hike but I’m let down by the lack of maintenance.

The trails aren’t clearly marked and the distances aren’t accurate (except for the easy and straight-forward 2.3km trail). The other trails lack signs/markings but if you do happen to make up to both hills; the views are spectacular and refreshing - which gave me 7.4km’s of total hiking distance. If you’re lucky, too, you might come across some Zebra and other wildlife.

There’s a great picnic area for families/ or large groups available, and it’s pet friendly. A lot of potential but can be adventurous if you’re into exploring the reserve without any markings.

I’d recommend it for beginners starting off their hiking experience

Faerie Glen Reserve provides a nice outdoor escape, with a combination of easy and less easy paths. The signage isn't perfect but you can't get lost here. If you dare, there's a short distance concrete path which you can run to the top of the hill. You can get up to 8km of mileage without crossing paths by first going to the summit and then walking the perimeter of the park. Entrance fee is R17 for adults.

Decided to take a hike to Faerie Glen Nature Reserve, parking gets filled up quick, there was 1 guard, and a reception office that takes cards. We paid R17 per person entrance. No maps are handed out and the map itself as per the pics below is very poor. I think the birding is amazing, and the hikes could be great but we the type to plan how much time to spend with knowing how much to walk but the lack of details needs work, then again being nature it's well kept reserved if it's less commercial. Second time round we will go earlier for birding and to beat the sun because it was hot! Take a cap.

Nice place to visit, low to moderate hiking trails. Can walk pets there also there is a picnic area though no tents and gazebos allowed there. Needs more boards to show the way, got lost at the top of the mountain
