Still an awesome place! 4 years ago I stayed at Friends for a few month - Awesome place, made a lot of new friends which I still see from time to time -
Now I have been there again and I was very happy to see that all the good things haven't changed. They even remembered me by name. The rooms, kitchen and the common area are very lovely decorated and good equipped, friendly staff, safe, and the surrounding area is very nice with lots of Jakaranda Trees. Highly recommend this place. It doesn't matter if you stay a couple of month or only a few days, it feels like home very quick.

Since the first day I arrived at Friends Accommodation in Pretoria, Tertius, Andre and Sifiso made me feel so welcome. During my stay for three months, I got to know so many people, who became such good friends to me. Friends Accommodation Services is located in a very safe neighbourhood, in the nicest area of Pretoria. I had my own room, which was very nice and clean. Bed sheets were renewed every week and the cleaning of my room was also included. During the weekends and in the evenings we explored Pretoria, but also Johannesburg and other places in the near area together. It is the perfect place to stay if you want to meet a lot of people from all over the world! If I get the chance, I will definitely go back there!

I first stayed at Friends in 2008, the whole year, then returned back in 2011. What a wonderful time I had. I had the opportunity to meet and socialize with people, mostly young people, from all backgrounds, France, Italy, America, Netherlands, Germany and so on. We watched movies, cooked and ate together sometimes, really, this is an ideal place to stay if you like to meet people, make friends, build relationships and experience different cultures. I guess that is why it is called Friends. My landlord went all out to make sure that I was having a friendly, comfortable and reasonable experience in my stay there. I would highly recommend Friends Accommodation Services to someone like me who enjoys the company of friendly people and always looking for an opportunity to extend the network of acquaintances.

You REALLY want to avoid staying here! The online photos of the place is not a true reflection. The décor is very worn and dirty today. The owner has not been investing any money in fixing the place. He even tried to raise the rent by so much while I was there that all of the guests called a meeting with the owners and refused to pay the increases. The kitchen had broken windows, and hardly anything to cook with while I was there. As a result we needed to eat out most evenings. Sure it's nice to socialise with other guests every now and then, but there you have to do so every evening because it's to loud you cant sleep. And here's another nice one. So, after you've released that the place is unhygienic and NOT AT ALL WHAT the pictures look like, you can't find alternative accommodation without losing your whole deposit and being liable for paying the remained of your contract. Please listen to good advise and just stay somewhere else. All of the best.

I spent one whole summer from October 2017 to April 2018 at Friends Accommodation Servies.
It is a great place in a safe and beautiful part of Pretoria. The walking/cylcing distance to University and many embassies make the place very comfortable for international students or interns. For that reason you will meet a lot of like-minded people to spend your free time with. Cooking together, hanging out at the pool/bar area, going for hikes, exploring Joburg or party - you can have a lot of fun and meet new friends :)

I had a bad experience in 2014. I'm an African Australian, and was in 3 days transit in Pretoria. The issue was that I was black, and was monitored all day. The owner will come and park his car near the building just to monitor what I was doing. On my second day as a guest, i was interrogated by the receptionist...bizarre. Please do me a favor don't stay there, these people need to learn to respect other human beings and understand that apartheid is over in South Africa and will never come back.

I would avoid staying here. The place looks great on the website, but when you get there you realise its a different story as the place has not been maintained properly. The owner also seems to be all about the money and not about fixing broken windows, replacing old carpets, cleaning the place properly and making sure your not woken up at night by other guests partying.
