I was very excited to celebrate my birthday at Fairlawns Boutique Hotel because it looks quite lovely online. Indeed, it is an exquisitely beautiful location, tucked away in the suburbs, and the food was exceptional????????My hesitancy on giving it a 5 star was a glitch with the service. Our first waiter was good but had to end his shift before we were done spending our time there and had us settle the bill. The handover to another waiter was apparently not well done and when we finally got another waiter to serve us he was a bit unprofessional in his interaction with us. Some training is required on this aspect. A sorry hitch in an otherwise lovely day.

One of the things I like about 5-star establishments is that they take their customer feedback very seriously. The second time dining at Fairlawns Boutique Hotel was very special. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a welcoming atmosphere from the front desk up until we got to the restaurant. Our waiter was very friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, he took the time to explain the dishes that took our interest. He would regularly check on us to make sure everything was okay so there was no need to look for him or wave at other waiters. This allowed us to really enjoy the ambiance, classic decor, and soft music playing in the background. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very soothing and great for intimate conversations. We both ordered oxtail because we had heard good reviews about it u0026 it surpassed our expectations ( would 10/10 recommend it) the meat was tender and falling off the bone. I do not eat dairy and the waiter made an arrangement to serve the dish I wanted minus the dairy. I also took the liberty to check on the other patrons and they seemed very pleased with the service, the waiters were very attentive to their tables. I would like to thank Thobela for making our time at the restaurant extra special and for offering to take us photos, they came out really nice. We had the best time at dinner and we will definitely be back soon.

I ordered from the casual menu as I wanted to try the prawn linguini and boy I was not dissapointed! It was done just right. As always I enjoy the beautiful gardens, modern classic look of the restaurant and overall ambiance whenever I'm there. The service was extremely slow though but our waiter apologised as there was some sort of event and apparently they were short staffed. Other than that everything was ????????. Definitely will be visiting again.

Easy to get a booking and great setting. I had been there lots of times before and loved it but something has changed and has low energy / bad service feel that never was there:

We requested a table outside and when we sat down the table was not properly cleaned.

It took about 20 minutes to get a waiter for the drinks. He came and obviously did not want to clean the table and mats but he did.

The food was delicious however so lukewarm. It’s a pity,

Menu has limited offerings- we were told it was due to COVID-19

For the price they charge - one would expect excellent customer service and experience.

I hope they can improve on it as it is a beautiful restaurant.

20 minutes and counting waiting for our bottle of wine to be opened. Why you ask? Because nobody in the entire place can find a cork screw.

Completely unacceptable service for such a "fine" dining establishment

Edit: 45 minutes is apparently the turning point for the amount of time which it takes to find a corkscrew. Happy days

The food was good and affordable, but I think the restaurant mainly caters to Hotel Guests of the Fairlawns Boutique Hotel cause we waited an entire hour just to be shown to a table.
