It was a great pleasure to be at the Indaba Hotel, Spa and Conference Centre again after at least 15 years since I was last there. Particularly pleasing was the fact that the owners had managed to maintain the establishment in an excellent state through all the shocks that businesses, particularly.in the hospitality sector, had experienced in the intervening time. While I can imagine the business will have faced some challenges, the Indaba looked like it had come through COVID-19 relatively unscathed. It is still a sprawling venue with a mix of rustic and modern features. I was particularly impressed by the well-kept grounds which give the place a feel of serenity, which is useful when one is there to attend a training intervention, such as I was in my earlier and latest visits. There's nothing like walking on well-maintained lawns while doing an exercise that needs deep thought or contemplation. Indaba is a great training venue. Notwithstanding the rampant load shedding - which was up to stage 6 during the time of my training workshop - the generator ensured that we had power during the blackout. There was an instance when the generator itself failed for some reason, and we did not have power for about 30 minutes, but that was soon restored and we managed to get back on track. The buffet meals also stood out, and although I did not spend the night there, my day visits were enough to leave me knowing that I will be back at the Indaba, if not to stay over, then at least for a meal. A great place well worth a visit!
