Able Seaman Just Nuisance or as my Grandparents called him 'Nuisance' was your typical naval seaman. He was quite a handful occasionally u0026 got out of hand as all sailors do. My Grandfather, was a Major in the Medical Corps during WWII u0026 as such was based in Kimberley where he often came into contact with u0026 treated the Cape Corp troops. Able Seaman Nuisance on occasion resided at my Grandparents home when Officer Mess events occurred. It is possible Able Seaman Nuisance disagreed quite loudly with the distinction drawn between officers u0026 enlisted men u0026 gate crashed, so was relegated to Major Galloway's home some distance away. Anyway, Nuisance was dearly loved by my Mother (who was a little Girl then) u0026 played a great deal with the big Able Seaman who was by all accounts very gentle u0026 loving. Remember him well.....see the attached photos from the booklet by Leslie Steyn

Simonstown is probably my favourite spot in the Mother City. It has everything, the harbour, nice beaches, kayaking, restaurants etc. then it is like a compulsory stop for cyclists.

The Just Nuisance statue by artist Jean Doyle. The statue was erected in 1985 in Simonstown at the Jubilee Square.
We got in October 2021 in touch with this statue and the story behind.

The statue is adjacent to the main car park in Simon's Town. Also close by are some local traders who hand make gifts which is very much worth a browse.

Good to see unique heritage like this being maintained.
Thanks to the city counselors involved, keep the history, it attracts tourism.

Lots of interesting shops in area, and our favorite the yacht club with a view on the harbour and sail boats
