Atlantic Rail run a steam train -- complete with restored wooden coaches -- to the Cape winelands (and back) pretty-much every other Sunday. Experience the nostalgia of steam along with lunch and wine tasting on a South African wine estate.

We went on a trip to Simons town back in 2011, and had a blast. The kids were allowed to get into the locomotive to had us take their pictures, and they are to this day still talking about that great experience. If you are into this type of event, you will not regret making use of this one. The stop over in Simons town is long enough to grab a bite to eat and have a cold one without needing to rush. Thumbs up to the staff of this beautiful old lady. Will highly recommend to every one.

The steam train trip organised by Atlantic Rail was awesome. There is nothing like experiencing the sound and smell of a steam locomotive. An outing I will remember for a long time.
