The food was wonderful, well prepared, nicely presented and enjoyed. Good size portions and lots of options to choose from. My partner opted for a selection of starters instead of a main meal, which is always a good way to have more variety. The rest of us had a starter and main and we ordered one dessert to share. (Dark chocolate tart on a biscuit base with hazelnuts and vanilla yogurt ice-cream.)
The service was good but not extraordinary. We were in a side room which only had two tables full. When the other table left, it took a while for the waiter to come back between courses. Restaurants in general seem to miss training waitrons on how to be attentive and invisible, it is an art, but makes all the difference to the customer experience, especially for a fine dining experience.
Small things like providing wet wipes when serving a vongole or mussels - both companions used their hands with their meal, and we had to ask for wet wipes.
Also too many things on the table that obscured seeing the other members of the dinner party. Especially problematic with 2 older guests who need to lip read - a lamp and water bottles were in the way, whilst can be moved, greater thought can be given to placement in the first place. All things to learn from and would not preclude me going back.
