My wife and I can not recommend this food tour enough. We were pleasantly surprised at every turn. Justin, our guide, was knowledgeable, friendly, accommodating, and entertaining. We were taken to local places that the guide had personal experience with. We sampled the local cuisine in a comfortable, inviting atmosphere. The tour was able to accommodate my wife’s vegetarian dietary restrictions. The culture and history were provided to add context to the food and area. He was able to answer all our questions with great detail. It felt more like a conversation than a one-sided lecture, which we really appreciated. We opted for the alcoholic version and were given a tasting of some of the local wines, beers, and gins of the area. All the food was delicious. Justin provided a recap of all the locations and further recommendations. I would not change anything about the tour. The next time we are in Cape Town, we will not hesitate to call Cape Town Culinary Tours again.

We had a fantastic experience with our tour guide, Justin. He was super amazing. His knowledge about the cuisine, culture, architecture and infrastructure was amazing.
It was so much fun, way more than we had anticipated.
We also enjoyed the fact that they made sure we had a customized experience, and they were so sweet to make it a special couple experience.
They went over and beyond our expectations! Keep up the great work!

Cape Town Culinary Tours provide an amazing way to explore the culinary delights of this wonderful city of Cape Town! Elsje guided my husband of the Cape Town Coffee Experience, a 3 hour tour, and then 2 days later the both of us on The Cape Town Essentials Tour, a 4 hour visit to sample the culinary delights of Cape Town, both food-wise and drink-wise. Both tours are highly recommended - through food and drink you explore and learn about the fascinating cultural traditions of the Mother City, and Elsje brings everything to life with her enthusiasm and incredible in-depth knowledge of the history and heritage that this part of the Western Cape has to offer. So glad we did these yours and I would encourage anyone to do the same!

Our tour guide Justin was fantastic! He had an excellent amount of knowledge regarding the history and culture of Cape Town, and the food was delicious. We started with gourmet coffees, then stunning Cape Malay dishes, local beers and snacks, guns and ice creams.
Highly recommended ????

On a rainy day in Cape Town, my elderly mother and I participated in Cape Town Culinary Tours’ Cape Town Coffee Experience. Despite the fairly chilly weather and wet environs, we had a great time. As with most things, the tone for this tour was set by the positive attitude of our guide, Elsje Erasmus. Elsje, who is the company’s Founder as well as Tour Director, greeted us with a smile and ensured that all participants were happy and comfortable. Though all COVID accommodations and requirements were met, Elsje ensured that the social aspect of the tour was not dampened. She also ensured that the walking tour accommodated my mother’s slower pace in such a way that was not to the detriment of the group, at large. Elsje’s love of coffee and subject matter expertise was evident in not only the information and lessons she conveyed, but also in her selection of venues. Each location was staffed with professionals who were passionate about coffee and about sharing coffee’s secrets with other like-minded novices. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to learn about coffee while meeting new people and seeing some of the “street sites” of Cape Town.

We loved our afternoon with Elsje! We ate delicious food and went to places we would never visit. Elsje also has lots of knowledge on the history of Cape Town and sights we saw along the way. What a great way to see more of the Mother city and learn more about other foods that aren't on our daily menu! Oh yes, and the wine at Open Wine was fantastic. Thanks Elsje!
