Great selection of Italian charcuterie and the cheese options too. Also a few quality Spanish brands and in general the offering will please the majority. The cooked food are on the mediocre side - same for the pre packed salads. Better to crab a baguette or bagel and tell them to make you a sandwich the way you want it. Be careful though the bill can climb too high since it is pricey.
The only thing that let me down was the coffee which is horrible , burnt and bitter.

Not bad in terms of variety but the Coffee is an insult, particularly given its an Italian place and food is overpriced. One thing they have to work on is customer service for sure: There was four of us there walking in at 7.26am to be told to leave since the shop opens at 7.30am. Clearly a lot to learn, still, after a long time they'd been around .

Best chocolate croissants I've ever had. Also I made a sandwich at the deli and it was terrific. The guys working at the coffee counter could be a bit cleaner...saw them do some nasty things which is why I removed a star.

Great spot still, after all these years. Delicious coffee and little treats! Great spread of products and just a good old Italian vibe!

Cappuccino is fantastic. A Cape Town institution for good coffee and delicious baked goods. My favourite barista is Mehmet. Cappuccino with a chocolate powder on top is certainly a good start to the day. I recommend their salmon and cream cheese bagel with gherkins. Lovely deli with a various imported items from across the world.

However….

I feel that Gio’s really need to look into offering a means of recycling all the plastic containers their food is served in.

They are very busy, small space to move. Their food (more for takeaway) are excellent (and expensive). There are many other *deli* type of things you can buy. Their backed bread and craussants are very nice
