South Beach Camps Bay Boutique Hotel Private Retreat
Our stay was Six-Star, thanks to the South Beach team. The team have thought of everything, from the carefully implemented covid regulations, to the beautiful and expansive accommodation. The staff are both professional and friendly, dealing with every request gracefully: their attention to detail is World class.
The Hotel's decor is tonal, decorated in soft creams, sands, and whites, punctuated with splashes of colour by local artists, including Lionel Smit and Marieke Prinsloo-Rowe. Reflecting the owner's Interests, artifacts by music artists and authors such as Annie Lennox and Jonas Jonasson are punctuated throughout the hotel, providing a uniquely Cape Town vibe.
We were booked into a second-floor suite, (room 20) which was both spacious and luxurious. The bathroom was fabulous, with one of the best showers we've used-expansive, great water pressure, and a generous supply of super-large towels for both shower and swimming. The high thread-count linen and luxury Mungo towels add to the level of care and luxury.
The open-plan kitchen, with its magnificent sea views, is well-equipped with everything you may need for a short or longer stay, complete with a dishwasher, microwave, oven and small hotplate. We requested the inclusive breakfast option, which was a great decision. The fridge was supplied for Kings, with delicious fresh bread and croissants delivered each morning. Smoked salmon, bacon, cheese, eggs, yoghurt, preserves, cereal and fruit were just part of the highly generous offering. The in-room (maxi!) bar was well-stocked with sparkling wines and a comprehensive supply of spirits, beers, soft drinks and wine, and a selection of complimentary treats including gummy bears, peanuts, chips and chocolate.
The suite has excellent amenities, with one of the biggest beds we've slept in, gorgeous linen, and a selection of comfortable pillows. We were impressed by the well-placed multi-country plugs available for charging our devises, eliminating the need to carry travel plugs if you are traveling internationally.
Our room had its own heated swimming/plunge pool and balcony facing the ocean, which adds an extra layer of privacy. The views from the bedroom and sitting room offered incredible sunset views, a minute away from the Camps Bay tidal pool and ocean.
If you want to socialise with other guests, there is a spectacular roof terrace bar with 360 views of the ocean and the Twelve Apostles Mountain range. The new ground floor bar/hangout area is a wonderful addition, and the underground parking ensures both safety and privacy. The South Beach Camps Bay Boutique hotel is very central ( very easy walking distance) to great local restaurants, bars, and coffee shops, and a minute away from the famous Camps Bay Theatre. The hotel is a World Class Gem.
