The road may be daunting, I would not recommend taking a low slung vehicle down it. The venue is stunning, a river runs through it. The biggest surprise for me was finding hot water in the gents basins. Unusual these days. The food was great and the service good too.

Beautifull place but for the price, no. The details for the wifi were not present in the room, both aircon and fridge were not working and when we moved the bed we found very old spiderwebs. Never again.

My husband u0026 had our wedding at 23 Riverside on the 1st April 2021. It was a magical day in every way! The venue was spectacular, we had so many compliments on how beautiful the venue was and how great the food was (especially the slow cooked oxtail u0026 home made chicken pie!). The owners of the venue helped us book all of our suppliers which we loved, it made everything run so smoothly on the day. We were happy with the whole experience and cannot thank Beaunette and Jacques enough for making our day as special as it was! u003c3

This is a paradoxical venue. The beautiful setting, divine food, stunning table setups, and friendly service are five star - absolutely gorgeous. There is even a nice little box of soaps and bathbombs waiting for you in the room. Even the main construction seems great. But the finer points are badly lacking, and deserve only one star. A few serious problems: we were part of a bridal party and slept over. 1. At a full priced room, both the aircon and fridge were not working - the worst is that all the staff knew about this, thus it must have been a problem for a while. We changed rooms, but it simply became someone else's problem. 2. There was a power problem. Power was eventually restored (limited) to only the actual reception room. There were no candles placed on outside walkways or anywhere else - we eventually did this ourselves from the table candles. At the end of the party, power was routed to the main rooms only, none at all to the separate house. I do not know how everyone found their way back there. As a premium venue and in a country with serious power problems, it baffles me how there is no solid power backup system in place. 3. Some finishings in the room are terrible. In our (second) room, the tie back hook pulled totally out of the wall. The curtains are cheap and made at China town with the big metal hooks and huge plastic jewels to prove it. There was not even a finishing strip where the bedroom carpet met the bathroom tiles, so an ugly frayed carpet end was really obvious. 4. No one seemed to have hot water the entire day and night? 5. There is a mulberry bush just as you step off the ceremony area - needless to say we are all still soaking dresses and scrubbing shoes to try get out the stains.

Overall, a really difficult place to rate! I honestly cannot recommend or not recommend it.

Went for a wedding. Lovely river and decent reception hall, good parking.

Just beware of the road leading to the venue, is quite rough but there is at least concrete paving lanes to drive on some parts.

Recently got married here. Most beautiful venue but unfortunately this has now turned into a principle matter for me due to the following. First and foremost our refundable breakage deposit has not been refunded and they cannot give us a reason as to why they are not paying this back to us. We were not allowed to use our own DJ of choice and had to use their inhouse guy and in doing so it was a total disaster. All the reasons they gave as to why they insist on us using their DJ, was all the things that actually went wrong. (Music stopping while we walked in, poor sound quality, cant do song requests because his laptop is flat etc.) The long and the sort is they had plenty power issues and imagine our surprise when we saw Marlene Moss's review below from a year ago with exactly the same problems.(Please read her review for more detail) This tells me that it is an old problem and the staff as well as the owners are well aware of these issues but not fixing it. For a 4 star venue the conditions in the rooms are as follow. Aircon and fridge does not work, drain for the shower is blocked and resulted in the whole floor being under water. As soon as the last payment was made the lady's attitude changed and she became very rude and abrupt not only to us but to our guests as well.
