Amazing place if you want to just relax and get away from all the noise and city life. Amazing views and the sound of the river just calms you down. You immediately feel at home and Ilze just makes you feel at home. The Rooms are serviced daily. The breakfast is amazing, tastes like home. Little bit expensive, but worth the money,the portions are generous and the table gets set right inside your flat. It's about a 7km dirt road to the place as you are told in advance, so prepare for your car to get dirty, preferably you should have a car that is not too low from the ground and don't be in a hurry to get there. Drive and enjoy the nature! There is a nice jacuzzi and a braai and a swimming pool ,perfect place for couples !

We had a wonderful stay.
Relaxed, clean and great service from Ilse. The highlight for us was the wonderful couples massage next to the pool!
Also, it's close to Joburg, yet feels far away.
Will definitely return one day.

A very beautiful peaceful,quite place. If you want down time from busyness of Joburg whilst still in Joburg, this place is the place to be. A hidden gem in Johannesburg. My wife and I throughly enjoyed our stay.Clean and very cozy cottage. The jacuzzi was very nice and relaxing. Couples massage is also a definite must have . Our host Illse was so welcoming and friendly.

An amazing place to get away out of the city. The gravel getting there is not fitting for a normal car, especially in the last stretch, definitely recommend going there with a crossover or SUV. Cabin was a little house that had everything you need! And you have your own outdoor area where you can walk down to the river. You have your braai area. No TV in the room (so perhaps take games with) and no Telkom network (for anyone attached to their phone). Would definitely go back, and do a longer stay!

Thank you Ilse and Tanja, for our beautiful romantic getaway. Peaceful with the privacy needed. Stunning sights, hearing the river in the background with nice walks.
Cozy and clean cottage, the jacuzzi and the spa was amazing! Your staff were all excellent. The food was delicious. I recommend Ibis River Retreat to anyone who wants a country getaway. What a lovely place. Hidden right under your nose. Quiet, peaceful and private. A perfect place for that romantic getaway or just for some peace of mind. Private Jacuzzi and don't forget to book your couple massage! A definite recommendation.

Ibis is my favorite vacation spot and this year I stayed in Hadeda cottage. It features a large veranda overlooking the bush and river, comfortably furnished with plenty of space. From dawn to dusk a large variety of birds can be seen and heard - heaven for bird watchers! The constant burbling of the river nearby is very relaxing and, to add to this little piece of heaven, there is the spa where I've had the best body scrub and massage to be found in Johannesburg. The owners are super friendly and helpful, the cottage very well equipped and I left there wishing I could stay another week! If you're looking for peace and quiet, surrounded by natural beauty , this is the place to go. Ibis also features one of the world's largest labyrinths, designed to assist with healing - I was skeptical at first but after completing the 2km journey, I must admit it was an amazing experience and I highly recommend it. Especially after the almost 2 years we've had with Covid and all the stresses that came with it.
