A lovely afternoon out. Really worth a visit. The tea and scones was delicious. The hike is worth exploring. It is pet friendly too. Remember to bring cash to pay R10 for entering for parking.

We went on the hiking trail with our pooches. They ask R10 per woof bit you are also welcome to donate towards the upkeep of the place. The trail, depending on the route you take can be an intense uphill with a nice gradual downhill or the other way round. Please make sure to take poop bags with you and you will need to take your own water an bowl with for the dogs. I would also recommend sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses, and takkies with very good grip. After our hike, we went to the restaurant on site, Tannie Isie. The most amazingly fresh scones!!!! A definite must have.

Such a lovely museum, if you like history or just curious about history, this is a place to visit. Definitely want to go back and take my time to read everything displayed in the house. Beautiful grounds, with a picnic area, bring your own or order from the resturant. They have a Doggy friendly, 2.3 km 'The Oubaas Trail' and you can get a breakfast for your furry friend next door @ Ouma Isie's resturant. Ouma Isie's is situated next door on the same grounds as the Jan Smuts House, not vegan friendly (chips will have to do), but they do have a wine list ????????

Took the dogs for a brunch and hike today.
The Oubaas Trail is a 2.3km trail up and down Smuts Koppie.
The venue is pet friendly as long as your dogs are kept on leash. Jan Smuts's former house is now a museum you can visit. Be sure to stop at Ouma Isie's Tea garden for a delicious Gin and Tonic.

The Oubaas trail that starts from the Smuts house is worth a visit. Well marked trail with rewarding views from the top. You can get in about a 3km hike here.

Was a very nice day. The kids loved the walk and the house inside. The food was super nice although definitely pricey. Will be back again for sure.
