I got the shock of my life lastnight after spending R200 on their oxtail and rice meal. Guys it was literally the worst meal i have ever tasted, the rice was under cooked and dry, the oxtail was just watery and had a basic lame taste, to top it off they just added 2 small pieces of the oxtail which was mostly fat.
No sides whatsoever. The worst part is we ordered 3 of these meals, its the worst thing ive ever tasted .

Wow...I'm not sure I'll eat at this News Cafe again. Or let me rather say...I'll stay away from the food specials.
I ordered one of the specials that they have advertised; Pasta la Vista - Boerie Pasta.
The portion was way below what I expected; very small to say the least. But then again, maybe the portion was related to the price. I could literally see the bottom of my dish.
It was very dry, the penne was so hard, some parts were even crispy u0026 a bit charred.

I ended up requesting a side cheese sauce, which I added to the pasta dish and the additional Tabasco sauce was meal's lifesaver.

They could really invest more in their plates (most of the plates have chips, unless it's just my misfortune)

Their bathrooms also. I mean ordinarily who wants to sit, but some toilet seats may really do the good.

Three stars mostly because the staff is great, friendly and most of them highly efficient and the food is good. During the day it's a perfect place to do some work over lunch or drinks.

I wish there was a zero star rating to be honest the food that was ordered and delivered was completely diffrent.
The quality of the food was a disgrace to be honest. Bland undercooked underseasoned. The meat was so tough and of such low grade you could almost not cut thru it with a steak knife. Its like chewing a peace of rubber. When we called them to ask them to fix the incorrectly supplied food we simply got told they could not replace it as the delivery company could not do this. Which was a lie as i phoned the delivery company and they stated they would deliver for a fee. Asked to talk to the manager and got told you are talking to the manager which i will never believe because no manager would ever talk theire customer down, talk over a customer, state that its not theire fault the delivery company wont deliver.

Food was horrible... we called the manager to say, we just can't eat it.. he kept telling us how the kitchen will pay. So this Tony guy, who's manager / chef was aggressive and rude... we had to force him make us another meal.. which also wasn't so great

Great vibe! Amazing and attentive waiters..they always deliver if you're looking for a fun night out. Great food!

We have been to the News Cafe Mall@55, 2 weekends in a row on a Sunday morning. The place is empty. Waiters stand around talking to each other, totally ignoring you. You have to ask for sugar for your coffee, for a spoon. It feels like they dont want any customers. Dont open for breakfast if you dont want our patronage
