Interesting visit for anyone going to the promenade section of Durban beach. It was fun to see Durban from a different perspective. Maintenance is required as the weathering of the models can be clearly seen. More detail can be added in many areas to improve the overall feel.

Definitely an interesting site. I have never visited a minitown before and appreciate the detail and the effort put into some of the displays. The older displays (such as the municipality building and the mosque) have a bit more detail to them when compared to the likes of the newer buildings, but it was well worth the R40 entrance fee.

Lovely experience at mini town. Haven't been there in years. It brought back childhood memories..
The gentleman at the ticket station is such a pleasure.

I haven't been to Durban in at least 30 years, needless to say it is heartbreaking to see what used to be a beautiful tourist destination laid to waste. I wasn't expecting much from Minitown but boy, was I pleasantly surprised! It is so cute!
The place is spotlessly clean and well maintained, all the displays looked like they had been freshly painted and everything worked, trains trucks and aeroplanes all rumbling along perfectly. My daughter was absolutely enthralled by the trains!
The displays are sponsored by various companies, thank you to them for keeping this landmark alive. If only the real city looked this good.
The only fault I could find with Minitown was that the water in the little lake was dirty but considering that all of Durban's beaches were closed due to high EColi counts I guess this is just par for the course.
If you ever do find yourself in the dump that is Durban, I highly recommend a visit to Minitown, it will be the highlight of your trip.

We thoroughly enjoyed Mini Town.

They have painted their exhibits and everything looks so neat and fresh again.

It was a pity that the shop was closed because we really wanted to buy some ice creams to end off our visit.

A nostalgic Durban childhood tradition...a visit to Minitown...
Considering the age of some of the models (first opened in 1969), and the fact that it's a non profit that relies on donations for upkeep, it's fairly well maintained. The train running along the tracks around the space, and the boats going under the bridge which lifts are two favourites to catch the attention.
Just note that there is no card facility at the entrance, so cash is required to purchase tickets.

A fun place to spend a few hours. The facility is very clean and the venue is wheelchair/ pram friendly. They have lovely model trains running along the perimeter and mini ships in the harbor. Children will love it! They also have a seperate area to host kiddies parties.
