I may regret this review for only one reason - if it encourages so many of you to book that I can no longer do so myself. Nevertheless out of a commitment to honesty, I must say Sam and Janice are two of the most kind, welcoming, engaging, and supportive hosts I've met, and staying with them was a peak experience. They've created a beautiful, welcoming space in which there is a good equipoise of quiet and activity, of conversation and retreat, and in which they are genuinely happy to invite you into their lives filled with work, family, wine, and good food. I experienced all of those things while staying with them. The location is exceptional, walking distance close to good espresso (Doubleshot / Father Coffee), food (Marble), markets (Sunday Rosebank), and plenty of other wonderful experiences. They both provided ready and sage advice regarding Johannesburg. I'm hoping to return soon - and therefore I particularly advise against bookings in April 2023.

Excellent Bu0026B in a delightful, quiet location, easy walking distance to Rosebank Gautrain station. Rooms very comfortable, well appointed. Fabulous breakfast too

There was no breakfast and it was advertised as a Bu0026B. They also ran out of Five Roses tea after the first day.

I stayed end of October in Houghton Place for three evenings. The owners, Sam and Jane immediately let me feel at home. I stayed in a clean room with a beautiful view on the garden. Breakfast was prepared deliciously. Sam walked the extra mile to assist me with some administration to be done where I did not had all the facilities, for which I am still very grateful for. Thank you for a pleasant stay!

Our stay was just perfect ! The house is just splendid, decorated with excellent taste. Rooms are spacious, comfy and service was just amazing as well as our breakfast ! Sam made us feel at home from the start !

Lovely! Sam is very friendly and keen to make your stay as great as possible. The bed is amazing and its all very clean and comfortable.
