Don't talk to family. Treat patients with silence and no explanation of what is going on with regards to treatment. Nobody calls you back when you leave a message.

Visiting hours and conditions
1 person per day - per patient
Mon to Sat : 3pm to 6pm
Sunday : 2pm to 6pm

COVID precautions and regulations apply .
Guards does not allow patients to go outside during visiting.

If you need to bath or care for a loved one please make arrangements with the Dr or social worker.

Hospital has good Drs and caring nursing however alot of them are under pressure and it may be hard to get hold of them.

Hospital has around 600 beds and caters for post trauma , sub acute and physical rehabilitation patients.

My mother was transferred on Saturday. No matron or physio in and attendance so all the good work done by the professionals at Union Hospital is now out the window. I asked to have a manager contact me, and as expected, nobody has bothered. They don't provide the patients with proper nourishment. Supper is served cold at 17h20 and the patient's next meal is at 08h:20 (a 15 hour period between meals). Meals completely exclude juice, bread/biscuit bread, yoghurt. My mother now has diarrhea but the staff tell me they don't have anything to give her. They also haven't been giving her, her chronic medication and cannot give me an explanation. They also won't give nappies when the medical aid has authorized this. You get conflicting reports - depending on which staff member you ask, you get a different answer... and the list goes on. I now understand why they have chosen the highly impractical visiting hours they have! I shudder to think what goes on there...
I would advise anyone who is told that this place is marvelous (as I was led to believe), to rethink their decision very carefully. I certainly would not recommend them by a long shot...

Not a very nice clinic at all..The staff didn't know where my father in law was everytime I went there, when I tried to speak to the charge sister about his medication she was not interested at all. I was really not happy so we had him transferred...

Absolutely fabulous! There personal care given to the patient was of the highest standard. A meeting was organised which included the patient's closest family, his church, the occupational therapist, speech therapist, social worker and medical aid representative so that we may all discuss what is best for this man. During that meeting, but also at other times, it was very evident that the staff takes every patient's well being extremely seriously and gives solid attention and care to each patient's individual needs.

You have to be very sick, half unconscious, to like it there, the nurses talk Very loudly, they run inside! !! It's like an army quartel, there's nothing gentle there, they even lough at the patient, it's not good.
May be in the beginning, it was good, not anymore, and going worst.
