I came to Warriors of Faith because of my friend and neighbour, Brendan.
Everyday I would see him come back from Jiu Jitsu on such a high and a strong mental game for the day.
Over the last couple of months, I saw the strong, positive impact the couches, practice and Warriors of Faith community had on him. During one of these post -Jits -chats, he mentioned a quote that stayed with me, "There is no secret in good at Jiu Jitsu. All you have to do is keep showing up and train." He told me how many lives Jits has saved, including his. Not necessarily a physically fight but also being able to deal with yourself and to improve who you are as a whole.
I came to my first class with a bit of fear and trepidation and left knowing I wanted to come back.
The coaches are patient, kind and encouraging. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming.
In such a short time, I have been humbled, challenged and can say with complete honesty, that the Jits bug has bitten me.
As a domestic-abuse survivor, I know that a true warrior isn't immune to fear, but fights in spite of it. Through Jiu Jitsu, I am learning to rule my mind. To stop. Breathe. To take back control.
This is my Warriors of Faith Experience after only 5 lessons.
What a start of a journey.
Come and join this community. You will not regret it.
It is a gift. You are never too old to set another goal or dream a new dream.
