Need a break from the bustling city life then head out to the rustic shack. As you enter the premises you are greated by a wonderful feeling that you are on a beach situated on a lagoon. The walkway made of wood representing a jetty. Your eyes are then guided to a white washed sitting area with fisherman’s net on the ceiling and wooden fencing around the perimeter cuts the city away and gives you a feeling of a resort. Please note there is sea sand on the floor so it’s highly recommended to wear takkies or even take off your shoes and socks and really enjoy the feeling of beach sand between your toes. Let’s break it down a bit now - The Rustic Shack is the Bar On the lagoon and the food is supplied by Braai la_. Waai. These are two separate businesses and you get 2 separate bills as they work hand in hand - you will get a waitron that only does drinks orders and another that does food orders. There is an array of alcoholic drinks from wine , beer and bespoke cocktails. The smell of burning wood awakes the spirit where the chefs prepare your meals on smoldering wood embers. There is space at the first table for a wheelchair and there is preparation underway for access to the toilets for mobility challenged folks to access the toilets. The starters and food are prepared by chefs that have pride in their work. The Braai broodjie has a burst of flavors and it’s crisp with onions to give it that ‘ South African Braai ‘ taste. Order your meat from rare to well done. The noodle salad is crisp and light with a hint of cayenne. Wors is traditionally prepared with hints of coriander and cloves. Weekends brings live bands to the the venue. The background music has a foot tapping beat to it and just enough to hold food conversations with friends and family. A waterfall cascading from a zinc plate into a beach sand pond drowns our the city sounds and brings a calmness to the venue. Credit and debit card accepted. The Gautrain bus stops directly opposite the business. All in all a most enjoyable evening

A gem of a beach bar in Kempton Park. Fantastic vibe and service while you drink your cocktails with your feet in the sand. Amazing and unique cocktails and shooters #beachvibes.

I found the beach in Kempton, what a wonderful little gem this place is. Waiters were really friendly and attentive,. The music was great had a nice vibe and the water fountain really made you feel like you found somewhere away from the hustle and bustle. Cocktails were great and the burger was amazing. I will go back for sure.

What an amazing, special experience! Just what is needed after a couple of stressful weeks, and hard days at work. Felt like a mini mid week holiday. The couple of hours spend there, gave me the recharge I needed for the rest of this week.
I will most certainly be back in future, we have found our new go-to place for a couple of drinks after work.
Music was great, food was amazing and super fresh. Owners are such an amazing couple. I can't wait to take the rest of my family and friends there!
Keep up the great work.

No words to describe the atmosphere, inviting friendly staff, food fantastic, can kick your shoes off and just unwind and take the edge off from a hard day. Definitely be seeing The Rustic Puka Shack this coming friday with friends that also want to experience the relaxing "beach" atmosphere .I The staff changed a bit and became very slow and just disappears, we had to wait 16min for our second round of drinks, the platter we ordered never arrived as the waiter must have forgotten to put the order in, we eventually went to the bar to inquire about our drinks and was the barman in a bad mood he didn't even say a word to us and shouted for the waiter to come and assist, that took another 7min as his lady friend seemed to be getting all of his attention, we decided to call it a day and asked for the bill, we eventually had to go to the bar again as no bill came and once again not being acknowledged the barman shouted for the waiter that was busy attending to his lady friend again outside. Another lady waitress saw what was going on and decided to attend to us and printed our bill, when the waiter saw that we are paying cash he quickly ran towards us, well I gave the waitress the tip as she was the only one that day attending to all the tables while the others where having a beach party

Great venue for a casual meal. Beach sand so don't over dress. Flops are in in order. great vibe and friendly staff. Meals and drinks are very well priced. Actually do not want to share this venue as I love it, but that would be selfish.

Love it. Imagine a crazy day at work in Joburg, then you stumble into this place. Take your shoes off and walk across the beach sand. Sit at your table, with the cool sand on your feet and the sound of running water. Suddenly you feel like you are on holiday. Yes please. Awesome. Friendly service, lovely vibe.
