A true gem. The team are so friendly and knowledgeable about the local area. The hotel is immaculate and so peaceful with a lovely view of Knysna. The breakfast is like nothing we've seen at a hotel before, a veritable tasting menu of treats served in a tranquil courtyard. We will be back next time we visit the area for sure.

This was an all round amazing experience with Matthias and at Candlewood Lodge. Matthias provided advice on the phone months before our stay (which proved invaluable), then the stay itself was really wonderful.

The room was lovely with a very big bathroom and a gorgeous view.

There are no words for breakfast!! To provide an idea, Matthias provided homemade (warm!) dairy, soya and gluten free granola especially for me every day due to my dietary requirements; and it was absolutely delicious!! The coffee was also outstanding and the general spread is worthy of any incredible restaurant.

During our stay Matthias provided daily advice about things to do and places to see - also providing a beach bag and towels for our trip to the beach.

Really we can’t summarise how kind and helpful Matthias was - it made our stay so memorable and we wouldn’t hesitate to stay again if in Kynsna. Special mention also to the other staff, whose names we unfortunately didn’t get, because they were all so caring and warm.

We love Candlewood, thank you!!

Simply amazing !
My first time in SA - the friendly staff at Candlewood made me feel at home straight away. The rooms are nicely designed and well equipped and very neat and clean.
The guesthouse is located on a small hill with a wonderful view over Knysna and the facilities including a pool and a piano are just perfect to spend your day there. The friendly crew will help you with any questions you need to know about your surroundings or exploring the country!
After traveling through SA - I was very happy to be back in Candlewood - simply: what you see is what you get and more. Thank you for a fantastic time.

Candlewood is, by far, the most amazing Guest House experience we've ever had. My wife and I have been to Candlewood 3 times over the past 5 years, and everything is just perfect every time. A Candlewood breakfast is an exquisite affair. A feast for the eyes, the tastebuds and the soul. Oh, my word! 5 stars all the way. Thank you, Matthias, you and your amazing team have done it again. And yes, we'll be back!

What a great chef!!! Outstanding food, the best staff ever. My husband was in a wheelchair and they could accommodate him!! We had a marvelous time here.

When myself and my wife got to candlewood lodge. We were overwhelmed by the heart warming welcome... The feeling of walking into a room accomodating to your taste. The warm scented cloth to refresh your hands and face.

The experience was so overwhelming. We woke up to the sounds of birds and a view that was so breathtaking. We left the sun room and made our way to the breakfast venue. We couldn't believe thee amount of effort put into catering for just us two. From the slow brewed coffee at your table and refreshing orange and fennel dishes and ending with the breakfast desert. It was out of this world.

I highly recommend candlewood lodge

* Really nice, extensive breakfast
* Great host Matthias who will do everything he can to make it a nice stay at Candlewood Lodge
