Pathetic service/ non-service received from Ocean Basket Knysna Quays on Saturday 30/04. We arrived at the restaurant and were seated at approximately 17h40. Menus took about 10 -15 min to arrive, this, after I got off my seat to request menus. This should have already been a sign to indicate how the rest of the evening would play out. 5 min later drinks and mains ordered as we were advised by the waiter that a large group was due to arrive so best to get our food started. Just to add that the restaurant wasn't very busy at this time, max 10 tables occupied. My drink arrived promptly, hubby's took about 20 min as I think they needed to go and get a coke light from a nearby restaurant. Standard OB rolls arrive with what looks like mayo (should be tartar sauce) and garlic. They were out of fresh chillies as they had a busy Friday as stated by the waiter. Manager arrives with the coke light and we enquire about the mayo / tartar sauce, she advises that the kitchen forgot to add all the ingredients and will fix it. Great, thank you. It is now 18h45 and no food in sight, waiter has not come once to check or apologize for the long wait. Hubby gets up, asks the waiter to settle the drinks bill and cancel food. Not a very apologetic waiter, I then request to chat to the manager. Waiter says she is busy in the kitchen. I manage to flag her down and she comes out. Give her a breakdown of my entire experience, she is apologetic but it just looks like they are / were struggling. OB Knysna Quays, we have eaten at many OBs across the country but this stands out as being the worst experience.
