Museums are (always) interesting places to gather information and learn on (primarily) historical matters. The theme in this museum is diverse of info around Knysna and sometimes seems unrelated. There is information about the mayors of the town over the years, local gangs, angling (fishing) and ships that sailed past the nearby shores; there is info on Titanic though no link to SA history. The maintenance of Old Gaol seems low but the building is not rundown. Receptionist and service is professional. Entrance fee is affordable and you can leave a tip (supposedly for upkeep) if you wish.
If you're keen on learning something new that has trusted and validated information, a museum is a good place to go to, even if it seems that all information presented is unrelated to each other.
