This was our second time staying at La Vida Luka. It has everything we need and the hosts are so nice and the service is top notch. Paul and Irma really go that extra mile to make our stay unforgettable.
The garden gives a strong, gentle " feel good" experience. So inspiring, well planed and looked after.
The rooms are beautifully decorated in smallest detail. Just love being there...
Hoping to be back soon.

Positive: The breakfast was simple but ok. However, I don't think it is worth R110 since it was muesli with chopped fruits and yogurt which is already dished for you. Moreover, my wife had hair in her food and the staff said "I can't see anything because I don't have my glasses, soon afterwards, he came back with the same cereal and said, I removed what I could see", that was very disappointing.. Negative: 1. The attitude of the male owner, firstly when we arrived, dogs came out and the owners also came out but merely greeted us and went back to the house with the dogs barking. We found ourselves seating in the car for a while not knowing weather to come out or stay in the car since my wife is scared of dogs which was not mentioned in the advert. Also the owners did not say if the dogs were domesticated or not. When they finally came back to check on us and we explained that my wife is scared of dogs. The male owner told us that the dogs are like his babies and if we don't like dogs we can cancel. 2. On the second day, when we were out, the owners would go to the room without our consent or at least inform us just to fetch an ice bucket, I felt that was an invasion of privacy. 3. On the last day, the male owner came a minute before check out time saying that we should vacate the room and pay him his money. 4. After we had left, my wife discovered that she left her flowers and when we went back to take them, we found that the bunch was taken out of its wrap and the flowers were halved..

After spending our first 3 days with Irma and Paul we returned to Vida la Luka for the rest of our stay in Pretoria due to the exceptional comfort and attention to detail in the rooms and the magnificent, peaceful gardens. We are so very grateful for this beautiful place and to Irma and Paul for their wonderful care.

We arrived at the Guest house and what welcoming hostess Amelia when we arrived on Tuesday 7th August 2018. The Family guest suite we booked with the 2 rooms was lovely and tastefully decorated.
With my arrival i said to Amelia that i will book on short notice rooms and add to my booking as my daughter at Groenkloof Hospital for surgery and will be in ICU/High-care for a few days maybe. All were fine with her until i decide the Thursday morning that i would rather move back to the family suite that’s much warmer and have bath facilities for my 4 year granddaughter. We Granddaughter was rather sick and had a bad evening and i left the Friday morning early to get medicine for her without having breakfast that i paid for but did send Amelia a message that my granddaughter didn’t sleep well and we overslept. I start receiving messages and messages from her. I stayed in several hotels/guesthouses nationally and internationally and we go as we want to. We paid a service, i like what i see when i booked my accomodation and pay what i have to.
I also wake-up not feeling to well, i visit my daughter at hospital and my son in law will meet up with us later that day again and i will return home.
After he arrived i decided to go back to guest house and to booked the other room in family suite for me to sleep over also Friday night as I wasn’t feeling up to drive back to Hartbeespoortdam.
What a unpleasant experience i had because i asked her to booked the room again for 1 night. Her words “i can’t, i have people from france coming tomorow and i already prepared the room for them today”. That was a first to me, a guesthouse who refused a booking for a open room that will only have a guest in the next day.
This morning my son in law and my grandaughter were basically through out of the room with her husband standing at the door at half past eight and asking when will they leave and they start cleaning the room while they still busy. Checking time was only for 10:00 Saturday morning. Rather disappointing that my granddaughter of 4 years tell me how rude they were ....
