Thought I'd try Priva for hubby's birthday and food wise, we were not disappointed. But boy oh boy, some of the patrons almost ruined the experience. I mean, Priva is really a beautiful and classy restaurant, and to have loud, roudy, patrons hovering over one's table taking selfies is a no-no (in my books). Nothing wrong with taking selfies, but respect other people's boundaries. Felt sorry for the owner because you're damned if you politely ask people to tone it down, and you're damned if you don't.
Anyways, back to the food - chicken liver rilettes (unusual but nice, just reduce the sweet marmalade), the crab cakes were lovely and moist, but could do with extra seasoning. I have to commend Priva for their portion sizes - the salmon was a decent size and perfectly cooked and the lamb shoulder with risotto was by far the best meal! Dessert was panna cotta, which was not too sweet and accompanied by diced fruit and jelly (a tad too much gelatine almost made it rubbery). Creme brulee was velvety and not too sweet, with just a hint of citrus in it. Oh and the music was sublime, just made our evening special. Will I go again? Certainly, but will choose a quieter time, like Sunday lunch maybe.
