The service from the reception was good, friendly and efficient. He greeted me friendly and showed me everything I needed to know.
The gardens are well kept and is really beautiful.
I was booked in for 1 night, dinner, breakfast and lunch pack.
Before I give my person experience representation you must understand the following. I give training the entire day on my feet. In a guest house I want a dark, safe quite room to sleep and a place to be able to work before going to bed.
Guest houses charge an arm and a leg so expect value for our money.
My experience with the room and kitchen / breakfast room.:
I was booked into room 4. The room by itself is big and has everything you need with dark curtains. The bathroom is huge, but this is where some of my bad experience was.
1. The basin is in front of a window and thus no mirror to shave in.
2. I had to wait long, very long (wasting water) for the warm water to become warm. Apparently they use gas geysers, no issue with the gas but wasting water now that I do have an issue with.
3. The curtains very thin and didn't keep the lights from outside out. The bathroom didn't have a door only an arch. This caused the lights from outside to shine into the room lighting up the room as if the bathroom light was on. I couldn't get a good nights sleep because of this constant light in the room.
4. The rooms has a veranda infront with chairs to sit and enjoy the beautiful garden. Now it seems that my room neighbours was contract labourers, (no issue with them also enjoying a good room and a good nights sleep). They sat infront of my rooms window and chatted away till late. When I was shown my room I didn't realise this but the person assisting me should have noticed and did something about it. Because they sat just outside my window I lost all privacy and had to close my curtains very early.
The breakfast room:
Small and nothing really wrong with it however the service was poor. I was told that I can start my breakfast at 07:00. The shef only arrived at 07:15. Nothing was done, nothing in place, nothing started. The breakfast itself was poor against standard I am used to at other guesthouses. The shef was friendly but I'll informed. We book our accomodation though The Traveller and they (I know they do because previous guesthouses had the information) give my food requirements through to the guesthouse. The shef informed me of what she will prepare for breakfast and I had to correct her because she apparently didn't know about my food requirements.
The lunch pack wasn't bad, but again compared to other guesthouses that we even pay less at was poor in standard.
So overall I will not use them again, our company will not use them again and they can be assured I will not advise friends, family, colleagues or anyone I know to use them in Rustenburg.
This is really unfortunate because when I did research they look like a good place.
O and they didn't offer WiFi.
