The gym has many advantages and is one of the best of the classics in South Africa, but there's definitely some work that needs to be done:
1.) Most of the staff really are not very polite, and make you feel quite un-welcomed. Most of the time I am at Alice Lane, I feel as if the staff act as if we are the reason they dislike their jobs, which could be true, but as a very introverted client, its doubtful. Definitely wish they could up their game, such a turn off to train in such miserable energy. Cannot even compare with the kindness, welcoming and politeness of the Melrose Staff.
2.) Equipment is mostly new, which is great, but there is almost always a waiting time, there is very limited machines, and considering a membership is roughly R1700, this should not be an issue.
3.) I still do not understand why some things are still unavailable due to covid, such as the MacBooks. It is not as if I need to use them but it is such a waste to just see them there, unavailable.
Final Review: Many of the aspects of the gym make it worth its prices. However, the staff's attitudes and lengthy waiting time can definitely make you want to downgrade.
