The appearance of this hotel is memorable, beautifully designed but a little outdated. The lobby and dining area is impressive and elegant although the rooms are dated but comfortable Food and service was good, although didn't have dairy free options mostly. However, overall it provided a very pleasant experience.

This was my first stay in South Africa and I wasn't sure what to expect. I need not have worried. This is an amazing hotel to stay in which is well located for shops and restaurants. Perhaps the best part of the hotel is the staff that work here, they are simply amazing. The customer service is sublime, they cannot do enough for you and always with a smile. I will definitely be coming back and thank you for making my stay so wonderful.

What a great Hotel, I have not had such a good nights sleep in a long time. A comfy bed with sink into pillows and the black out curtains made the room so dark nothing would interfere with my sleep.
The staff were so friendly and helpful and Concierge was always on hand to answer any questions.
I had to go to the Conference Centre each day and the skywalk is so easy linking the centre to the Hotel. The skywalk also links you the the Mall and the Spa. I will definitely return.

Hotel is beautiful on the outside and inside the lobby. No security issues and connected to a fabulous mall next door with tons of shopping and food options.
Biggest complaint was with air conditioning units in room. I had to switch rooms 3 times to get one with working unit and even then the temperature in the room did not get below 76 degrees. Made it very hard to sleep comfortably especially since it was Summer time when I visited.

Stayed here for a night before our safari in Madikwe. Staff was very friendly and attentive upon arrival including bell man and front desk. Explained all hotel amenities and asked about our plans that evening. We already had plans but the fact that they wanted to help set something up gets Intercontinental an extra star. Room was spacious and clean with a view of Johannesburg. Had everything you needed, though I wasn’t a fan of the bathroom tile (dark) and it appeared a bit outdated including the door. That’s more of a personal aesthetic issue than anything else. Hotel is connected to Sandton shopping center which was super convenient and used the sky walk to walk over for some shopping and lunch. Perfect central location!

I went to visit a guest at the hotel. A security guard followed my right to the room of my friend.
I asked him to come in for coffee since he was so eager to escort me.
Visitors beware. Do not visit a guest in this hotel. You are not welcome. Rather meet in Sandton city than the hotel.

Overall my stay was wonderful. The staff was courteous, and very accommodating. Breakfast was great but needed a bit more variety. I was not a great fan of the choices presented. Almond milk should be added to the menu as some people have taken milk out of their diets. The natural fruit juices in the morning were excellent. I completely enjoyed these because it allowed me to carry on my morning routine.
